Worth a watch - abundance comes from the willing gift

Whilst preparing for this week’s post I was inspired by Bishop Robert Barron’s homily ‘the tale of two widows’ and wanted to share with you what Bishop Robert had to say which you can watch here.

My takeaways are :- that we always need to be reminded that God is no man’s debtor as we give He gives and gives and gives again; and that we can be assured that abundance comes from the willing gift and that our reward will be one of joy, life and peace.

What Bishop Robert Barron has to say is well worth a watch and if you have a spare 15 minutes I certainly recommend. It got me to thinking is there something shorter that I can share and I found this.

We all know the story of The Widows Mite - the story challenges us to reassess our giving in the light of our faith.

In the story of The Widows Mite, Jesus points out that the widow gave out of her poverty all that she had. Others made a show of their giving and if that was their motivation - they would have had their reward to be seen of men. St Marks Gospel doesn’t tell us anything more about the widow from this point on but I’m sure such a willing and sacrificial gift would have been honoured by God.
