How to help people become aware of the stewardship renewal

A stewardship renewal is an opportunity to share with the parish family.

The purpose of the the awareness phase of the stewardship renewal is to share and invite more become involved.

Before the awareness phase it is recommended that the parish prepare and plan and organise how the stewardship renewal is going to be shared with the parish family.

Sharing helps people to get involved. Sharing helps the person sharing just as much as the person receiving. Sharing is an important opportunity for everyone involved in the program to share what it means to belong to the parish with the parish family.

Checklist for the awareness phase of the stewardship renewal

  1. Make sure you are ready - Ensure that all the planning, organising and materials are ready to go, if required wait pause and wait until everything is in place and ready to go.
  2. Invite everyone to be involved in the sharing meeting - Appeal, personal ask and followup people to be involved. Prepare a contact sheet with leaders reaching out to teams personally asking people to be involved.
  3. Do a rehearsal and be prepared for the sharing meeting - The sharing meeting should remind people about the parish vision and show people how to share.  Think out what you would like people to do and make it easy. For example, prepare presentation slides and ask presenters to do a test run presenting and be ready to make a YouTube video sharing the parish vision that people can watch later. If you would like people to share the vision with others, provide good quality materials and show them how and provide contact sheets. Hint - RSVPs to a parish celebration can give people sharing the program something to talk about.
  4. Do the sharing meeting and have fun - This is really when all your hard work preparing will pay off, so make sure you make the sharing meeting fun.
  5. Allow time for people to share - If you are asking people to share the parish vision with others give them time to do their reaching out, and ask them to confirm their RSVPs.
  6. Followup for the celebration - Invite those in the parish family with a letter, email or phone call who have not confirmed their RSVP to the stewardship renewal celebration.
